on the brain

With spring break this week you would think I would super stoked & relaxed.
ughh definitely not the case.
I have to work all week & have tons of homework to catch up on.
so spring break for me is non existent.
Blahhh
I'm trying soo hard to get all of my projects/papers/tests done before they are due.
"procrastination is the assian to success"
my motto for the week.

It is a struggle of mine.
This week I am determined to get it all done.
But before you go feeling all sorry for me....
the reason I gotta get all my work done this weekend is because next week I'm going to

SAN FRANCISCO!

wahoo!
I'm so excited!
I have never been before.
Any suggestions on the must-see places & things to do???
Then we are driving down to Sacramento to watch Will play in a baseball game.
Can't wait.

Then plus the Bachelor Finale tonight....
ughhh I'm doomed.
I've just got to find some motivation to focus on school for the next week.

friday rundown

You don't know how happy I am that today is Friday!
But it has been a little busier then I planned.
So I thought I'd give you a little 'rundown' of my day.

1. School-- I'll be honest I totally planned on not going to my first class, but since I went to bed a little earlier then usual last night, I just naturally woke up at 7:30 am. So I just decided to go. & was pleasantly surprised when I found out my second class was cancelled! Wahoo! Nothing better then that!

2. Since I finished with school early, I decided to hit the gym. I wasn't planning on it since I did a killer bodypump class & yoga class last night. But I had time, so why not. I did this cardio workout plus 15 minutes on the StairMaster, 10 minutes on the bike, & 10 minutes on the elliptical. I was a 'hot mess' to say the least.

3. I received a scary phone call from my mom about the earthquake & tsunami disaster in Japan & the news that my uncle was stranded there. Fortunately his was safe & waiting for the next avalible fight out! My prayers go out to the people in Japan. I can imagine the devastation they have suffered.

4. Finally went to Yogurtland with my two favorite people in the world! Sooo good!

5. Work-- same old.
6. Drove to Salt Lake & had dinner with my parents, my aunt, Paige, & Leima!
7. Watched the amazing BYU vs New Mexico game! Ummmm Jimmer are you human? 52 points. Really??

8. Missing this boy :( He's in Washington playing in a three game series right now.

9. Today my best friend, Anna turned 21!!!  Ahhh I'm so sad I wasn't able to go to Vegas with her this weekend! (stupid work.) But I plan to celebrate with her when she gets back! Love her!

10. Now-- Its 10:00 pm & here I am blogging in my pjs. Do I care that its a Friday night? Nope.
I'm exhausted!!!

Hope you are all having a more eventful Friday night then I am!!

currently obsessed.

As most people know,
I'm VERY interested in health.
Hence my major... Community Health.
I've always enjoyed nutrition classes and learning about new ways I can improve my health.
I love trying new 'healthy' foods...which to some is a little gross.
I get made fun of a little about the things I eat.
But as I've discovered more healthy living, exercise, and wellness blogs,
I realized I'm not the only one who feels this passionate about a healthy lifestyle.
Call me a freak, but I'm not as bad as some.
I still have a major sweet tooth & drink diet coke like its water.

That being said...
I want to share with you some of my new favorite healthy foods
try them if you dare ;)

Kale.

This leafy green falls under the cabbage family.
I know what you are thinking.... sick right?
Well it is so so good for you.
Packed with powerful antioxidants, vitamin k & C, & calcium.
It is also actually considered an anti-inflammatory.
This puppy contains sulforaphane- a potent anti-cancer property.
Put in a yummy salad or hide it in your favorite smoothie if you must,
but please please try!

Almond Milk.
I've never been a huge fan of milk.
For sure has to be skim milk or I add in water... gross I know.
I love soy milk & the other day I was at my parents' house
& they had Vanilla Almond milk.
(my dad reads a lot of nutrition books & articles & always has weird stuff in the house
-now you see where I get it)
I poured some of it into a plain granola cereal.
Ummm WOW.
so good!

hummus.
It is made from cooked, mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, olive oil, salt & garlic.
I love to dip pita chips in it or spread it on some wheat bread for a sandwich.
It is a great, low calorie alternative for mayo or miracle whip.
Looks a bit nasty, but if you can get past that I promise you'll love!

grapefruit.
My dad used to eat this with breakfast when I was growing up.
Normally I'm not a sour-loving person,
but for some reason I like grapefruit way more then any other citrus fruit.
I also heard it has major fat burning antioxidants.... don't know if thats true
but thats always a plus!

fiberplus cereal.
I like plain, not-so sugary cereal
(except for Honeybunches of Oats, I could eat a whole box in one sitting!)
This fiberplus is amazing.
Fiber keeps you feeling full & also pushes through your system...
ha if you know what i mean ;)
With some almond milk, it is a perfect way to start my day.

greek yogurt.
My sister introduced me to greek yogurt.
I've always been a yogurt fan, but this is soo creamy & sooo much richer then any other yogurt i've had.
I'm hooked!
Plus very low calorie, lots of protein, gluten-free, & kosher.
Delicious!

None of these are too exotic!
Try em & let me know what you think.
